Seville, February 2016

Spain is an amazing place to visit for a short city break as it has so many lovely, traditional places to discover which I think sometimes get overlooked in favour of some of the bigger and more obvious tourist attractions. Seville is a fabulous place to visit if you enjoy relaxing and scenic holidays, with lots of history and culture thrown in too. I always feel like the food is to die for in Spain, I mean let's face it, a good selection of tapas and some red wine never disappoints! I haven't got much to write about for this post, as instead of our usual action-packed holidays we spent most of our time eating and drinking. Picture this, having drinks in a terrace bar overlooking the Cathedral... perfection! We stayed in a lovely Air B&B while we were there which was perfect, you really can find some bargains on that site.

The highlight of the stay was visiting the Alcazar Palace (see above) which is an absolute must-see if you're in Seville. Part of Season 5 of Game Of Thrones was filmed here and you can see why. There are lots of great photo opportunities here and it is a beautiful building to explore and find shelter from the sun on a hot summer day.

We also managed to fit in a visit to the Plaza de Espana where you are able to rent a rowboat around a canal-like area (spot the fish!) which was nice and relaxing. Another interesting thing to visit is the Metropol Parasol, a mushroom type art installation which gives great views. Well worth a wander around to get some great views of the skyline.

A great way to spend the evening is by finding a traditional flamenco bar which we were able to find using some insider knowledge (Lucky enough to have a Spanish friend!) which you can find by looking for the 'red door.' The atmosphere was great and we were able to see many talented people doing their individual performances.
